Cross dressing in film and television
Although this might sound like an unlikely assignment topic, in fact cross dressing (men dressing as women and visa versa) has a long history in entertainment, going back at least to Shakespeare's time.
Your assignment is the following:
- Work in small groups.
- Give a short (15-minute or less) oral report on a dramatic work in which cross dressing figured prominently. Answer the following questions as a minimum:
- Of course, give the title of the work and when it was created and/or appeared.
- What is the movie genre?
- Give a brief summary of the plot of the movie. You only need to provide the main points, not the entire story!
- Which character(s) crossed dressed?
- Why did they cross dress?
- What was the outcome of their cross dressing?
- Handouts are optional.
- You can find a good list of movies in which cross dressing have appeared at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-dressing_in_film_and_television. You do not have to use an item from that page; you are welcome to report on any dramatic work you wish, even literature. (It doesn't have to be a movie.)
- You do not have to report on an English-language work, but of course your report has to be in English.
