The way to present brackets in PmWiki text is to use a single bracket followed by a @, then the double brackets with closing pair, followed by a closing @] tag. Like this: [[My New Page]].
http://pmwiki.org/wiki/Cookbook/PerGroupSubDirectories - This page explains how to divide the wiki.d folder into subfolders. This would be useful if the wiki.d folder starts approaching a few thousand pages as some hosts will not allow ftp programs to display more than X thousand pages in any one directory.

Backing up

Your wiki installation contains some unique data in the following directories:

    local/         Local configuration scripts
    cookbook/      Recipes obtained from the Cookbook
    pub/           Publicly accessible files
    wiki.d/        Wiki pages
    uploads/       Uploaded files (attachments)

A good backup plan will include periodically archiving these directories — or at bare minimum local/ and wiki.d/. Good practice dictates keeping your backup archives on a separate machine. (See documentation for more information.)
